Afghan Freedom of Expression

Verista’s history began with support for Afghanistan, a country that the organization’s founders know well. Before and after the 2012 incorporation, as Baraka Foundation, we supported the building of a girls school and library in Logar Province, and an educational photography exhibit that was presented across North Georgia.

Since the humanitarian crisis began with the Taliban’s takeover in August 2021, Verista has supported the rescue and resettlement of Afghan journalists, as well as their ongoing work in country and overseas.

As another facet of Verista’s support for freedom of expression, we are backing Afghan journalism to factually cover the unfolding events in Afghanistan.
